DoorDash Work ?
DoorDash is an on-demand food delivery service. It is, in a nutshell, an Uber for food (much like Uber Eats). Founded in 2013 and based in San Francisco, the DoorDash app allows you to order food from various restaurants nearby. It also allows people to sign up to become food deliverers (nicknamed Dashers) and enable restaurants to receive their food to customers.
According to a November 2019 report from consumer analytics firm Second Measure, it is the most popular app-based food delivery service in the US, ahead of Uber Eats and GrubHub. The app currently has around 38% of the US food delivery market and has only become more prevalent in 2020 due to changing times. If you haven’t tried it yet, here’s what you need to know.

Hungry? Well, the first step to using DoorDash is to download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. One thing to remember is that DoorDash is currently only available in the US, Canada, and Australia.
Step 1: Once downloaded on your iOS or Android smartphone, you need to open the application and register for a customer account. To do this, you must fill in basic personal information, such as your name, physical address, email address, and phone number. If you wish, you can register via Facebook or Google. You must also create a password, which you must then carefully write down.
Step 2: Once registered, you can start ordering food. You can do this by browsing through the main page of the DoorDash app, or you can tap Search at the bottom of the screen to type in the name of a restaurant or tap on a specific food category. Because it knows your address, Doordash can offer local deals, past favourites, and faster delivery options, along with all the options available at All Restaurants. Estimated delivery times, rates, and ratings remain displayed for each restaurant. Note that if a restaurant remains greyed out, it is closed and cannot deliver.
Step 3: If you touch a restaurant, you will remain directed to the menu page for that restaurant. Here, you can tap on specific foods or categories (for example, popular items). Restaurants can customize what they offer here, but there are usually options to select additional ingredients, add meat or make things vegetarian, add or remove dining utensils, and more. Once you have completed the desired changes, you can tap the Add to order at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: After ordering your first item, you can add additional articles by tapping the Near at the top of the screen (it looks like an X). If you want to place your order, you need to tap the View Cart button. Here you can see the items you have selected and also the total price of your order. If you’re ready to pay, tap on the Follow tab.
Step 5: If this is the first time, you will remain asked to select a payment method. You can choose between Apple Pay or Google Pay (depending on your smartphone), or you can choose to pay by credit or debit card. If you select a credit or debit card, you will remain asked to enter your card information (if you haven’t asked before). Tap Save after entering the correct information. The payment process is automatic after this, so you don’t have to worry about doing it again unless you want to change your payment methods.
Step 6: Then, you will reach the payment page. Double-check your address details and add delivery instructions (like what to do if no one opens the door). Also, check all your fees – DoorDash will split the fees based on the cost of the food, the shipping fee, and the tip you’re paying the driver. The information is generally set between $ 4 and $ 6 based on various factors but can be adjusted. Finally, tap on Checkout.
Step 7: DoorDash will now give you a progress bar showing when your order is picked up, on its way and delivered, and how many minutes it should take (not guaranteed). It includes a map showing your destination, the location of the restaurant, and the location of the driver handling your order. Drivers can text or call you with updates, menu changes, and other information, although this can be a bit hit and miss. After delivery, you will remain asked to rate the Dasher and the restaurant.
DoorDash DashPass Subscriptio
Users also can sign up for DashPass, which is a subscription service for frequent users. DashPass helps you save money in several ways, but with a $ 10 monthly fee.
The service includes benefits such as zero shipping fees for orders over $ 12 (the exact amount may vary but is generally between $ 10 and $ 15). Not all restaurants participate in DashPass savings, but it is pretty standard, especially for larger chains. Subscribers also get priority customer service and special promotions for local restaurants. Offers can also change over time.
There is no contract for DashPass – you can sign up and cancel anytime you want. DoorDash estimates that you pay alone if you place three large orders per month. A simple two-course demand tends to exceed $ 12 in most places, so it’s not difficult to activate.
DashMart is an additional service that DoorDash offers beyond essential food delivery. With DashMart, you can order food ingredients, necessary medications, hygiene supplies, and a variety of pet supplies for fast delivery. DoorDash has partnered with companies like Walgreens, 7-Eleven, CVS, Wawa, Pet-Smart, and others to make this available. The critical value offering here is the speed of delivery. Which remains designed to be around 30 minutes as your food delivery service.
For Drivers (Aka Dashers)
For anyone looking to become a Dasher, the DoorDash registration process is relatively straightforward. You must register through the company’s website and then enter your email address, phone number, and zip code. Most importantly, you must also complete a background check, which requires your date of birth, social security number, and vehicle type.
Once you have done this, you will have to wait while DoorDash verifies your details and approves your request. You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Good insurance, and a clean driving record. You can use any roadworthy vehicle to deliver food with DoorDash.
Once your request has remained accepted, you can log into the DoorDash app to check for available pickups and deliveries. Once you have received an order, you will need to arrive at the restaurant just before the stated pickup time. Then you use the app to confirm your arrival at the restaurant. And you must also mark each item in the delivery. Then drive to the customer’s address.
Additionally, Dashers should be aware that they can qualify for DoorDash Drive, a higher-paying service that handles large catering orders. It remains reserved for the highest-rated drivers. With Dashers needing to complete a minimum of 100 deliveries and having an average customer rating of 4.8 and a completion rate of 90%.
Again, restaurants that want to register to make their food accessible to DoorDash users must go to the company’s website and apply to become partners. You don’t have to run a large national chain to sign up. So if you’re a local restaurant, it’s worth considering as well. DoorDash also offers financial advice and a Storefront service for setting up an online store through DoorDash and fulfilment services through DoorDash Drive.
When you sign up, you not only provide the name, address and number of your restaurant. But you also choose how to receive orders. For example, the tablet plan currently costs $ 6 per week, while the tablet and printer plan costs $ 9.15. Also, it’s worth noting that DoorDash’s commission rate is now 30% on the value of orders placed through DoorDash. Ti is not insignificant, but DoorDash claims that restaurants can increase takeout sales by 50% using the app.
